Charter School Business Manager
The Education Laboratory: A Hawai‘i Public Charter School (aka University Laboratory School) seeks a qualified candidate for the full time position of Business Manager.  The Business Manager will play an essential role in the start up, development, and establishment of financial and fiscal operations of the school.  The Business Manager will work closely with the Principal to ensure accurate, timely, and sound financial transactions.  The ideal candidate is a self-starter and can take initiative in a professional, personable and flexible manner to work effectively and support the Principal and school operations.

Minimum Qualifications: 
Baccalaureate degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance; Minimum three (3) years progressively responsible professional experience in a field related to business administration, personnel, or finance; Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to students, parents, administration, teachers and the community in a professional manner; Knowledge of and experience in Quickbooks or other accounting software; Excel or Database proficiency. 

Desirable Qualifications:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Master of Business Administration (MBA); Business management experience in a school; Experience working with federal programs; Specific business or finance experience in a charter school as its own state agency; Experience in a non-profit organization.

The Education Laboratory: A Hawai‘i Public Charter School

The Education Laboratory: A Hawai‘i Public Charter School (aka University Laboratory School) seeks a qualified candidate for the full-time position of Information Technology Specialist.  The Information Technology Specialist will play an essential role in the network operations, digital communications, and data storage needs of the school.  The Information Technology Specialist will collaborate with the teachers, administration and Curriculum Research & Development Group (CRDG) IT Department to develop as transparent technology solutions as possible.  The ideal candidate takes initiative in a professional, personable and flexible manner to work effectively and support the Principal and school operations.

Duties:
•    Work directly with school faculty and administration to research and recommend technology-based solutions for instruction or management, and provide training for solutions as needed;
•    Maintain and manage wired and wireless Local Area Network infrastructure for classrooms, computer labs, and offices,
•    Maintain audio-visual equipment and computers;
•    Provide help desk support, including hardware and software troubleshooting, repair, and out-sourcing repair as needed;
•    Assist with scheduling, deployment, recovery, secure storage of audio-visual and computer equipment, which includes the needs of school-related events;
•    Coordinate development and implementation of School Technology Plan with ULS school leaders and CRDG colleagues;
•    Assist in administering, maintaining, updating, and providing training for the School Information System, PowerSchool;
•    Assist in administering, maintaining, updating other school servers (Windows 2008 Server and Mac OS X Server 10.3-10.6) and services (Open Directory, account management, file serving, and Web site hosting);
•    Provide technical assistance with school data acquisition for required reporting to and from the Charter School Administration Office and the Hawai‘i Department of Education;
•    Review ULS Acceptable Use Policy regularly and ensure it is current with Federal and Hawai‘i state compliancy in meeting Internet and content filtering policies;
•    Analyze real-time technology usage and write quarterly reports of school use and projected needs;
•    Attend professional development courses or seminars; 
•    Assist with continued implementation of, research about, and training for cloud computing;
•    Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Relevant baccalaureate degree and two years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience, or equivalent education/training or experience.
•    Understanding of limitations, capabilities, uses, and maintenance and update requirements of computers, LAN, wired and wireless, Wide Area Networks (WANs), software, hardware, and audio-visual equipment.
•    Current knowledge of networking and/or database management systems demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply principles, concepts, methodology and terminology.
•    Functional knowledge and understanding of technology, systems, hardware and software associated with networking and/or database management.
•    Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve routine problems.
•    Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
•    Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.

Desirable Qualifications:
•    Experience in a K-12 environment, preferably with classroom experience and/or experience in working with IT in a higher education environment
•    Experience with Student Information Systems (eg: Hawai‘i Department of Education VAX).
•    Experience with project management, leadership or other experience related to working as part of a team
•    Working knowledge of Mac OS X client software (10.X – 10.6), Mac OS X Server (10.X – 10.6), and Windows 2008 Server
•    Working knowledge of server management and administration
•    Working knowledge of hardware and software deployments in a school lab environment
•    Ability to lift 50 lbs
